By Nwando J. Okeke
Awka, May 3, 2018 (MOI) Director, Water Resources, Anambra State Ministry of Power and Domestic Water Development, Mr Emmanuel Igwebuike has urged borehole drillers in the state to use standard materials for their projects.
He also cautioned those still using sub-standard materials to desist forthwith or face the wrath of the law.
Igwebuike said this while exchanging views with members of the media in Awka.
``The use of sub-standard materials is a disservice to the state, the society and mankind.
``Drillers should adopt global best practices in providing quality water to the people.’’
Igwebuike noted that the World Health Organisation's (WHO) report indicated that 70 per cent of health challenges came from water usage, which cut across all human activities.
He enjoined the drillers to avoid unhealthy competition that might compromise standards.
The director said that the state government had put measures in place to enforce compliance with laid down guidelines and standards.
He also enjoined the drillers to eschew rancour and maintain peace so as to pave way for professional growth and development.
Igwebuike added that
unity among the group was fundamental for them to access government's
empowerment programmes. (MOI))
