GROUPS SEEK FOR COLLABORATION WITH GOVERNMENT

Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers ( NUPENG) have called for synergy with the Anambra State government to eliminate illegal sales of petroleum products in the state.
The head of operations of IPMAN/NUPENG Anti Pipeline Vandalisation and Petroleum Product Adulteration Joint Task Force Mr. Chimedu Anyaso made the call recently during a courtesy visit  to Mazi Sams Mogbo, Chairman of Committee on procurement, distribution and regulation of pricing of petroleum product in Awka.
Mr. Anyaso who spoke on behalf of the associations, stated that there was need for harmonious relationship to eradicate illegal sales of petroleum products by unlicensed individuals noting that the associations would do anything possible to deter sales of bunkery products from pipelines and other vices associated with petroleum products recently witnessed in the state.
According to him, ” the black marketers could not be eradicated completely off the street due to present economic state of affairs” calling for adequate dissemination of information and periodic training that would help the members handle the product better. He however urged government to provide a conducive environment for business to thrive through relevant authorities.
Receiving members of IPMAN/NUPENG, the chairman of committee on procurement, distribution and regulation of pricing of petroleum products Mazi Mogbo  expressed delight for the visit by the associations maintaining that government was intensifying effort to ensure that petroleum products were distributed to appropriate channels to meet the needs of its citizens.
He further enumerated the achievements of the committee on regulation of petroleum products in the present administration to include lessening the incidence of products adultration, pump measure manipulation and hoarding of scarce products noting that measures will be put in place to ensure availability and distribution of petroleum products evenely in the state.
He assured members of the association of the committee’s support in enforcing relevant laws in line with the vision and mission of the state government when called upon.
