Abagana (Njikoka LGA), Sept. 20, 2019 (MOI) Rotary Club of Nigeria District 9142, Onitsha metropolis has donated volumes of books to Abagana Divisional Library in Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA).

The donation is in line with the celebration of literacy in the month of September.

Former Assistant Governor of the District, Mr Ugoo Abba said the donation was part of the club's voluntary contribution to promote literacy and education.

According to him, the club will continue to support and partner with the library.

Abba urged leaders of host community to sensitise the people to use the books in the library.

He noted that the books cut across all levels of education mostly for tertiary education and journals.

Traditional Ruler of Abagana, Igwe Mbamalu Okeke commended the club for the kind gesture.

President-General of Abagana, Mr Ikem Onwuadi applauded the club's benevolence and urged other groups to emulate such.

Director, Anambra State Library Services, Nkechi Udeze re-assured that the books would be sorted and shelved for proper usage.

Udeze, commended Rotary club, Onitsha Metropolis for the effort at improving reading culture in the state, noting a decline in reading culture across all states of the federation.(MOI)
