Amawbia, Oct. 8, 2019 (MOI) Anambra State Government has intensified massive rehabilitation of failed section of the Amawbia-Nise-Agulu Federal road.

Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, an Engineer said this while inspecting progress of work on the road.

Mr Ifejiofor said that the section was badly damaged because of heavy collection of floodwaters flowing from drains outside Amawbia.

``This particular section was so bad that Gov. Willie Obiano on seeing pains of Ndi Anambra, who ply the road, directed that we find permanent solution to the problem.’’

The works’ commissioner re-assured that the quality of work being carried out by contractors would solve the problem once and for all.

``As you can see there is no more water on the road; the water is discharging directly into a culvert crossing the road.

``We have created as much as three culverts to take water into the natural discharge channel recently cleared by Government at Nise through the back of Governor’s lodge.’’

Project Manager of the construction firm, Mr Jacob Enaine promised that the company would complete the project as scheduled.

He said that they were working day and night to ensure that the road would be delivered in few days time because of the busy nature of the road.

A commercial bus driver, Mr Joseph Okoye commended efforts of Gov. Obiano in stabilising the road.

He said that the intervention was a huge relief to them as the long queues that they always witness on that particular section was gradually disappearing. (MOI)
